Athletics day 2010

On the 11th of November Nelson central school had their athletics day I was involved in the 11 yr old boys we started with long distance running i won my heat but lost the final then we had high jump i got 4th then we had sprints i managed to get to the finals and got a surprising second then we had throwing i won the tennis ball throw by a while then our last event long jump and i didn't do very well finally the day had finished

Nelson Intermediate visit 2010

On the 8th of September nelson central schools year sixes were visiting nelson intermediate to see if we wanted to go there next year. It was lots of fun we looked at biotechnology the equipment we learnt what the classrooms were like we looked at the enrichment classes as well. They have lots of good gear and there were fitness areas nearby like the gymnasuim and a swimming pool which was green but oh well. I think it was really good idea that we could check out what was going on and it looks like a great school.

Fundraising for rm7 camp

Room7 has many ideas about fundrasing for our camp in Golden bay and Pohara some of the ideas are sure to get us a few meals out. Like a Quiz night with a few donations this is sure to roll in some ching. A cake stall has been a popular idea because it's easy and the room7 parents bake a good cake. But the winning idea has been to hire out the disco rink and have a huge disco and sell things in the stall area we could have our cake stall in there this idea has been proved to make a fair few bucks.Another idea has been Jonathans old good trade jucies. So if all these ideas pay off with a little parent help I think room 7s gonna have a great time.

Winter tournament

On the 24th of august it was our winter tournament but not only ours also Hampton st school clifton terrace Auckland point and quite a few others. There were many different sports miniball,netball,hockey,tackle rugby and volleyball I had decided to play tackle rugby instead of miniball or soccer we had lots of games and lots of fun we played victory first and lost 4-3 then lost again this time against hampden st a we lost 4-3 again next we versed Clifton and beat them 3-2 in the last second from an intercept we then versed st joes they were unbeaten but we dominated them 4-1 our last match against Auckland point we won easily 4-2 we were happy with 3rd but we would have liked 1st or even in the final but oh well we traveled back on the bus and fell on the seat and was so happy to have a rest.

Basketball reps

On the 15th of august it was a basketball exchange tournament with Blenheim my team was Nelson white we had won the previous tournament in nelson. We really badly wanted to win this tournament because this was the final tournament we maneged to beat the first two teams we versed then dominated Marlborough red in one of our finals then the last game Nelson blue we were angry through most of the game because the bench were doing horrible giving me all the fouls for someone else after quite a few tears we came over the cheating bench and refs and won by 12 after our team worked really hard with me and Chris stealing and dumping the ball to our big guys.

Rubber racing day

On Monday the 9th of august it was the totara race day . We had made cars the days before out of cardboard we weren't allowed to use manufactured items so no Cd's or plastic you also weren't allowed metal. We were in groups I was with Liam and Toby we were doing quite well until Toby was sick he had all the plans Liam tried to keep going but he didn't know the plans so it was destroyed. We quickly started again but couldn't get the front wheel on so we couldn't compete. Race time their were two representatives from our class our class didn't think we would do as well as we did but Bianca smashed room 2 and the other classes. Her car got 13.68 metres we were amazed we had beaten Harry who apparently had gotten 20 metres before we were all pretty happy. It was also really funny max got picked as the other car his car was pimped. The forces we had used was when the rubber band is being stretched it is potential energy when it is released it is kinetic energy also their is friction.

THE END

Soccer

Last Saturday my team the nelson city geckos versed the Richmond slayers who are the top team in our league last time they beat us 7-0 this time we played really well and we were drawing through the whole game until the last 2 minutes when they got a break and crossed it in and Sean kicked it in the goal accidentally we couldn't get back we lost 1-0 DISAPPOINTING.

BASKETBALL REPS WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Sunday there was a trial for the primary grade rep tournament the tournaments are at stoke stadium and stadium of 2000 in Blenheim last year I was in the team and we won all seven of our games including the final and had subway for dinner this year I made it again with lots of my friends/team mates and I'm really looking forward to it.

Term 2 findout awards

On the 16th of June it was our classes findout awards. Findouts are when you decide on a topic to find out about like animals or sport. When it comes to findout awards time there are two formats that you can put them in they are digital and hard copy i entered in both formats and won the y6 hard copy with my findout on fish and chips and also won the supreme award with the top overall I'm my class and i got second in the y6 digital with asthma behind one of my skilly friends Ben.w who did it on J.R.R Tolkien that was super skilled but I'm still amazed how i won the biggest award in the whole thing

I will now explain to you what the destructive force of a tornado can do to YOU!!! You and your city

Paragraph 2

Are you sure what tornado actually is. It is a column of winds which spirals around and around and around, low pressure in the atmosphere causing destruction's. The winds in a tornado can go up to 500 miles an hour way faster than speedy cars but usually 300 miles per hour.

Paragraph 3

This is still extremely fast and would wipe you out. Did you know the world’s deadliest tornado was the Tri state tornado it killed about 1000 and injured 3000 people. This makes tornadoes the deadliest type of storm known to mankind.

Summary

So this is why when you see a tornado RUN!!!!!!! Don’t stand and stare at it’s beauty of spinningness definitely don’t get dizzy from it!

HUGE FEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Young boy Jordan Remaro had climbed the huge Mount Kilimanjaro at only ten years old. I’m ten now and I struggle with mount Arthur which is tiny. He has also recently summited Mount Everest at 13 and right now is walking down the mountain they estimate that he will be another ten days he also rang his mum at the summit of the mountain.(wonder what the service is like up there)

My opinion

This is like reaching the moon it is massive for a kid and huge for anyone. I think other kids should follow his steps because he is a great role model.

My sporting weekend

First i had a game of basketball on Friday out at stoke stadium we were playing Birchwood who had three rep basketball players in their team but so did we we maneged to beat them by ten points and the team before from our school beat Enner Glynn so it put some pressure on us. The next day i had to get up early because I had soccer in Takaka which was annoying but again we held out and won 3-1 i scored as well which was cool one of my friends got player of the day then after a long trip back i went to the Giants and they beat the Hawkes bay hawks which was a great result and that was my sporting weekend

south island primary tournament

In the holidays i went to Christchurch for a basketball tournament against year 7 and 8 and managed to get three wins and three loses from our six games we played north Canturbury probably the best team out there in our team i had sam max nic ben toby hamish and ME!!!!!!!!! It was a great experience and super fun

Findout awards

On the wednesday 31st of march was our classes findout awards i had entered two findouts one hardcopy and a one digital there were three judges
i rated quite highly in both but did not win a award there were year 6 digital and year 5 digital and year6 and 5 hardcopy .

The Cay

The Cay is a book written by Theodore Taylor it is about a young boy called Phillip and a black man called Timothy. This is a pretty old book so it has racism because Phillips mum doesn't really like black people so phillip is the same really. They are floating on a raft in the middle of the Caribbean eventually they land on a small cay with barely any food and only a keg of water. They have been there for at least a month as timothy gets weaker and weaker. Timothy has been catching lobster for food most nights but then a cyclone hits and timothy shields Phillip but dies protecting Phillip.In my opinion racism is not okay because this story shows how your colour doesn't matter

Camp was Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went on the Thursday for a night. we had a campfire and roasted different things Ben.R was toasting cut up french stick which surprisingly tasted quite good but he used about 15 pieces we also had Leigh Stevens talk to us about the marine reserve which was interesting he talked about the estuary the next day after sleeping with a wet tent and with people saying toms in hospital we got up ready to walk up peppin island which wasn't that hard it really was quite fun it took about one hour and a quarter we had wraps up their but me and my friend Max wraps were getting massacred by sandflys which was extremly annoying but we were walking in about 15 minutes it didnt take that long for us to get down and as soon as we got to camp we left really

CAMP IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow is our class camp to Cable bay we are going for one night we will walk up Pepin island I am going later with my friend Kyle because there was enough cars so we go when the people come back from swimming sports because we are responsible year sixes the camp is going to be so much fun we are also going PAINTBALLING which is awesome we will have a BBQ on the beach with about 100 sausages SWEET!!!!!!!! and heaps of other stuff. I'm in a tent with Toby ,Liam ,BenR ,David and Sam

Swimming carnival

On the 2nd of march 2010 we had our swimming carnival which was so FUN!!!!! i had four races to do the 10 year old freestyle which i got third then in the breaststroke i got second equal with my friend max and then in the backstroke race i got second so i thought they were pretty good results but there was still two races to come the ultimate piggyback race me and max got first for the third year in a row WOOHOO!! that is one of the hardest races to win there is about one whole length of people lined up. Then there was the relays i was in the B team with most of my friends we got third place so i didn't get out of the top three

Tryathlon 2010

Tuesday the 23rd of February the triathlon the year 6 lines up it was annoying we were the last race we lined up then BANG we ran round the first corner up Willow walk ran up and down the back field up the slide stairs across the playground dived into the pool ran around the buoy jumped out of the pool ran down the hill jumped on our bikes biked round the course at high speed but there was nasty crash in front of me Joe went too tight on the corner and went splat on the ground but i raced down the home strait and did myself PROUD!!!!!!! but i was exhausted.

2010 School year start!!!!!

The start of the term was really good start with some pretty cool new people and we have got some jobs me and my friend Max.Got the financial managers and sports managers we found that out today swimming is great fun as well. I feel great about my job and the people i"m sitting next to are good they are Liam ,Toby,Max and Ben.R
